Daina Lewis

I am not just the owner of shine! yoga & bodyworks, I am your instructor, your therapist and your go to for all things that SHINE!! I have been practicing yoga for over 15 years and have been teaching yogis of all levels and ages for the past 11 years. I am a wife and mother of 3, energetic little boys who have all had journeys with me on my yoga mat since they were babies. I am committed to being a tool that helps you ignite that inner light that shines bright in all of us!

Michael Tappero

Michael started his yoga journey at 60 years young in November of 2010. He is a competitive runner and studies/teaches different martial arts. He started yoga to gain more flexibility, and has gained so much more! He has done things he never imagined himself doing at his age and smiling along the way!
He completed his 200 hr. yoga teacher training in June of 2014 at Indigo Wellness in Moline, where he learned more about yoga styles, principles and philosophy. He joined the Shine team in January 2015 and is having a great time helping yogis explore their own potential on their mats.

Roberta Kelinson ~ Studio Manager

I have been practicing yoga for 7 years.  My inspiration for beginning yoga was to assist my body in the recovery process. Due to an auto immune disease,  a year of taking steroid medications left me inside a body I was no longer used to living within.  I needed to change that body, find acceptance & wisdom, strength, and endurance in order to continue living a productive life.  My instructor was Daina Lewis.  She encouraged me to continue on that journey of healing and finding answers from within my own self.
I have been teaching yoga for almost 4 years.  I have my E-RYT 200 hr certificate and my RPYT certificate.
I wanted to become a yoga teacher teacher so I could share my lessons, my wisdom, my healing with others who might be suffering with similar ailments.
My favorite pose is Triangle!  I feel open, lengthened, and strong in this pose.  It used to be the pose I avoided.  It is now the pose I long to move my body through.
I want to master the splits!  I have had other pose dreams, but through the wisdom of listening to my own body, I know some poses for me will not be achievable.  I am perfect in knowing and accepting this.  I am not here to compete, but to answer what my soul desires.
Something people do not know about me … ha, ha!  They know everything about me if they are connected with me on a social media or are in my circle of friends!!!  However, one thing many do not know is that my soul sister is Daina Lewis.  She became my yoga instructor, my mentor, and friend.  Through this we discovered we shared the same birthday!  How about that for universal connection!

Becky Moreno-Bell ~ Yoga Therapy

Becky has many years of yoga experience. Her yoga journey began in the fall of 1998 in Greeley Colorado. She began teaching yoga at the Living Yoga Center in Champaign-Urbana in 2002. Her studies and degree lead her to complete level 1 & 2 of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy in 2004. She then completed the basic 200 hours of Yoga Teacher Training in 2011 and became a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher. Becky is also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since 2011, emphasizing in trauma symptom reduction.

My goal is to share how to bring yoga into your daily life, in a simple, attainable and effective way. Deb Godsil

Deb Godsil is a 200 hr. Registered Yoga Teacher (200hr RYT) with Yoga Alliance. She is a graduate of the 2012 – 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training at Indigo Wellness. Deb is an Independent Contractor that has been teaching yoga since 2011 and her personal practice consistent since 2008. Deb has trained with Leeann Carey in The Yapana Way Yoga (Restorative Yoga). Deb shares a non-traditional style of yoga such as Chair Yoga and modified yoga such as Restorative along with Gentle Yoga. She encourages everyone to make time and take time for healing/healthy activities such as yoga for good health, pain reduction, fun and peace of mind. Deb is a former fitness instructor and has always embraced fitness and healthy lifestyle. Deb’s love and passion for yoga developed from a place of physical pain due to a spinal injury in 2002. She dedicated herself to the practice of Yoga, found pain relief and joy. She found her passion again and became a Yoga Teacher. She, like most yogis and yoginis desired to share the gift that has been given to her…the gift of Yoga and all it encompasses. Yoga allows her to Breathe…Move…Be.

Amy Crawford

I have been practicing yoga for about eight years, ever since a friend of mine took me to my first yoga class.  I was hooked! I have been teaching yoga for three and a half years. I became an instructor because I wanted to learn more about yoga and immerse myself in practicing. I am also very passionate about helping others, so teaching yoga is a wonderful way to do that! My favorite pose has always been tree pose because I love the balance that yoga brings to my life. I am working on mastering handstands someday. A fun fact about me is that I taught kindergarten in Egypt for two years after I graduated from college. ?
Or… A fun fact about me is that while I’m not teaching yoga, I’m a dog nanny!
Lol – not sure which is more fun.

 

Clarissa_Thompson

Clarissa Thompson

Clarissa is a 200 RYT with the Yoga Alliance. She discovered yoga during college in 2008 and, after falling away post-graduation, came back to the practice in March of 2010. Realizing her love for the way a dedicated yoga practice made her feel, she began to passionately pursue it; taking workshops in Breath work, Ayurveda, the Doshas, Inversions, & Meditation.
Prior to completing her training she volunteered as an instructor at a University and subbed for her local studio to gain teaching experience. Knowing that teaching was the direction she wanted to go, Clarissa completed her 200 hr training in Rock Island, IL at the Tapas Yoga Shala with Evan & Kelly Harris in May 2014.
Clarissa maintains a dedicated Ashtanga practice. In December 2015 she spent a month in Mysore, India studying at the KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute with Sharath Jois. She has also spent time learning from authorized and certified teachers like, Tim Feldmann, Kino MacGregor, and David Robson. All of these experiences feed her desire for knowledge and her love of variety influences her class flows.

Angie Allen

(Heart Centered Hynotherapist)
Angie Allen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who completed the initial 6-Day Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy Training with The Wellness Institute in February 2015. Angie is currently working to obtain full-certification as a Heart-Centered Hypnotherapist with The Wellness Institute at this time. That certification will be complete in February 2016. Angie completed her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in sociology and psychology. She then graduated from Aurora University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Angie works full-time as a licensed mental health professional in the Quad Cities and is very excited to be coming on board with Shine Yoga and Bodyworks to share Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy with you all!!

 

Rachel Perry

Rachel graduated from Alive & Wellness School of Massage therapy in 2006, and she is passionate about putting her ten years of experience to work to help you feel your best! She specializes in therapeutic massage, prenatal massage and massage for deep relaxation. Additionally, she has had training and experience in the areas of reflexology and trigger point therapy. In 2015, Rachel completed a 6 month course in traditional Thai massage at Blue Lotus Thai Healing studies in Chicago, IL.
